Site Audit uses AI to generate ready-to-approve fixes for on-page SEO issues — titles, meta descriptions, headings, and alt text. This article explains what an AI credit is, what does and doesn't use one, and what to expect if you run low.
What is an AI credit?
An AI credit is spent when Site Audit generates AI-written recommendations for a page. One credit covers a whole page — the title, meta description, H1, and social tags are generated together as a single bundle.
Credits are not spent on browsing your audit, reviewing issues, or approving/publishing a fix that's already been generated.
What uses a credit
Action | Uses a credit? |
Generating Autofix recommendations for a page for the first time | ✅ Yes — 1 credit per page |
Regenerating a page's Autofixes after changing its Target Keyword | ✅ Yes — 1 credit |
Your first batch of Autofixes when you start using Site Audit | ❌ No — included at no charge |
When Site Audit generates a fix, it produces the title, meta description, H1, and social tags for that page together. That bundle is one credit — you're not charged separately for each field.
What does NOT use a credit
Choosing or changing a Target Keyword. Assigning a keyword just aims that page's fixes — it doesn't generate anything by itself, so no credit is used. (Regenerating the fix after you change the keyword is what uses a credit — see above.)
Internal Link Opportunities. These suggestions are figured out directly from your site's link data, not generated by AI, so they never use a credit.
Reviewing, approving, or undoing a fix. Approving a fix publishes it to your site and Site Audit verifies it went live — none of that consumes credits, since the generation already happened.
Guided fix instructions for issues that can't be auto-fixed (these are step-by-step guides, not AI-generated content).
How many credits do I get?
Your AI fix credits are included with your plan and refresh each billing cycle:
Plan | Monthly price | AI fixes/month (credits) |
Basic | $59/month | 1,000 |
Pro + AI | $159/month | 5,000 |
Team/Agency | $299/month | 10,000 |
Since one credit generates a full page's worth of recommendations, these totals are the number of pages you can generate Autofixes for each month.
What happens when I run out of credits?
If you use your credits before they renew, we'll give you a chance to upgrade and add more credits so you can keep generating fixes.
Do credits roll over or reset?
No. Unused AI credits do not roll over from one billing cycle to the next — your balance simply refreshes to your plan's monthly amount at the start of each new cycle. Credits that go unused in a given month don't carry forward and don't stack.
FAQ
Does picking a Target Keyword use a credit? No. Assigning a keyword only aims that page's fixes — nothing is generated, and nothing on your live site changes, until you publish.
What's included in one credit? One credit generates a full page's worth of Autofix recommendations at once: title, meta description, H1, and social tags.
Why did changing my keyword use another credit? Changing the Target Keyword doesn't use a credit by itself, but if you then regenerate that page's fixes to match the new keyword, that regeneration is a new credit — since new content is being generated.
Do Internal Link Opportunities cost credits? No. Internal Link Opportunities are determined directly from your site's data, not generated by AI, so they're never charged against your credits.
Does approving a fix use a credit? No. The credit is spent when the recommendation is generated, not when you approve or publish it. So even if you never connect your site to auto-publish fixes, you would still need AI credits to get the recommended fixes.
Did my first fixes cost me any credits? No — your first batch of Autofixes is included and doesn't draw from your credit balance.
