What does Site Audit actually do?
Site Audit reads your website the way Google does, finds what's holding your pages back from appearing in search results, and writes fixes for you to review. You look them over, edit anything you want, and choose what to publish — nothing on your site changes until you say so.
What does "crawl" mean?
A crawl is SpyFu reading your pages the same way a search engine would. It's read-only — the crawler visits your pages, collects data about them, and leaves. Nothing on your site is changed or touched during a crawl.
Is it safe to add my site? Will anything happen to it?
Yes, it's safe. Adding your site starts a read-only crawl. Your site is not modified in any way during this process. Changes only ever happen later, and only if you choose to publish a fix.
What do I type in the domain field — do I need https:// or www?
Type it however you know it. Any format works — with or without https://, with or without www. Site Audit normalizes the address into its standard form automatically.
How long will the crawl take?
About five minutes for a standard crawl. You can close the page — the crawl keeps running, and your results will be waiting when you come back.
The progress bar seems stuck. Is something wrong?
No — it's still working. The crawl queues every page it discovers as it goes, so the total page count can keep climbing while the crawled count catches up. Some steps hold at one number for a bit.
It's common to see all pages crawled (100/100) but still be only at 52% progress. We're still working on page analysis and other parts of the actual audit.

Why does it only check 100 pages? Is that all I get?
100 pages is the default starting scope, not a hard limit. You can raise it any time in Crawl Settings. For the first crawl, SpyFu uses that scope to prioritize your most important pages and get you results quickly.
How does SpyFu choose which 100 pages to check?
Site Audit crawls from your homepage outward and ranks what it finds by opportunity — using the keywords each page already ranks for in search results. The pages most likely to benefit from fixes are checked first.
Does this cost anything?
The crawl runs as part of your SpyFu plan. Your first set of AI-generated fixes is included as well, with no additional charge. You could need additional credits for deeper work and updates to the recommended fixes.
What will I have when the crawl finishes?
Two things: a clear picture of your site's technical health — scored and broken down by issue type — and a set of fixes already written and waiting for your review.
